In May, John Baker was a speaker at the High Performance Green Buildings Conference, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The presentation was based on Traditional Arabic Passive Design Principles and the exploration of new materials and technology, used to assist energy efficiency and the green design of buildings. Recent projects used as case studies for best practice for designing environmentally sustainable buildings, was the Jebel Ali School project - one of the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified schools in the UAE, and the Hillside Courtyard Housing project, a low rise residential community development located in Dubai Festival City, UAE.
