Al Ain, UAE
The design of the school at Al Ain is inspired by the blend of traditional Arabic architecture and modern design referencing the future.
In particular traditional passive elements of sheltered spaces, shade, breezes with masonry construction are used to increase environmental performance.
The public linear circulation spaces within both boys and girls schools are shaded with a flowing roof structure symbolising the flow of water as in a “falaj“ — the spirit and life of Al Ain.
At ground level a continuous falaj carries water from the entry to the prayer room at the end of the circulation.
