John Baker

B Arch (Hons), Chartered Architect

John established BKA in 2000 with John Kavanagh, on the foundation of an impressive 30-year body of work reaching across commercial, multi-unit residential, educational, government, master planning and government sectors. Well regarded in the Australian architectural landscape, John has served as Councillor to the NSW Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects and regularly examines candidates for Board of Architects registration. He has also taught a Master of Architecture Design Class at the University of New South Wales.

John has been an integral part of a significant transformation in educational design and has helped to integrate modern education philosophies into the design of new education facilities. Expanding BKA's presence beyond Australia's east coast, John opened the BKA Dubai office in 2005. In this energetic architectural environment, John's work has included the Jebel Ali School, a 1200-student primary and secondary school, which is one of the first LEED-certified schools in the United Arab Emirates. John's passion for sustainable design has driven his practice's membership of the Green Building Council in Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
